Public Service Training Vital, stresses Sungi.

THE Minister for Public Service Joe Sungi has stressed the importance of training for public servants in the public sector announcing the governments plans to introduce an exchange training program with the Republic of Korea.

“The governments vision to deliver online training to more than 142,000 public servants across the country  is essential for PNG’s human resource development from 2025 and beyond,” Minister Sungi said.

“With the donation of ICT equipment to SILAG this will enable public servants to get the best forms of education to upskill themselves to better serve their country in a cost effective manner.

“Public servants will be able to access digitally-enabled teaching, trainings and learning efforts through SILAG that will empower them,” said Sungi.

“The exchange program would see students, public servants and trainers from SILAG and the public service to study for a set period of time in a similar institution in Korea thus  straightening ties,” said Minister Sungi.

Republic of Korea Ambassador Choi Jongho says the Korean government is set on empowering the public sector through digital transformation and ensuring human development for the PNG public sector fulfilling public servants need for capacity  building.
